The attendance was a RECORD turnout for the concert with some having to stand!! If you or your loved ones have any photos/videos from the concert please email them to [email protected] so I can create a photo album!! I also want to say thank you to those people who had donated to our DonorsChoose campaign that night! In music class this year we are learning about music genres and in October we planning to begin country music! The show is a display of country music history by puppets with music from the Carter Family to Taylor Swift!! This is an awesome opportunity for us to go and I will be sending home interest letters to 3rd, 4th, and 5th Graders. We are very fortunate to be so close to Music City and I love taking advantage of the music culture there when we can! Last year our Orff Ensemble and Choir took their annual field trip to the Hall of Fame and had a wonderful experience!
There will be a cost per student to cover the buses and once we get an idea of how many students are attending and how many buses we will need we will have a final cost set up. We are going to try and attend the 10 am show on Wednesday Nov. 28th. Please be on the look out in a couple of weeks for more information. Mr. Lawrence The Members of the 2018-19 Guild Performing Arts Have Been Selected!Auditions have concluded and the results have been posted at the school. I cannot post them on the website for student safety reasons, but the students can find out their results on Tuesday when we return to school from the long weekend.
ALL members will need to attend on Thursday morning for a group meeting to discuss what expectations are of them, how rehearsals will work and about our concerts. They will also get their registration packets that day that MUST be returned by September 19th 2018 with their fees. I am looking forward to this new group of students and what they can create and achieve this year!! #GatorMusic Remember to follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter to keep updated!!! In the 2018-19 school year our students can expect to learn even more than they did this year. We are also going to try and have TWO talent shows so that even more students have the opportunity to participate!! I have just added a Facebook page that you can follow to get updates when a blog post is made! Click the "Like" Button on the right to visit and like our page! Please continue to explore our classroom website this summer to get a head start on whats to come this year!! Today our young performers went on an awesome field trip to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, TN. They got the chance to see artifacts from real musicians that got there start right here in Tennessee! We even got to see some Grammy Awards up close! They participated in a scavenger hunt from the Taylor Swift Education Center, and recorded their own versions of songs in a recording studio in the Country Currents exhibit.
They had a blast getting to see some of what their favorite country artists wore, awards they received, and learned a little bit more about what goes on into making country music what it is today. The also got to experience the Rotunda in the Museum which has the totally awesome acoustics when you stand in the center under the spire! We OF COURSE had to take advantage of that and sang "The Sally Gardens" while we were there. We enjoyed our lunch at Bicentennial Mall and went on a hunt for the Sumner County Time Capsule that was buried there at the opening of the Park! Thank goodness we had such a BEAUTIFUL day! They got to enjoy the sun, take in some lovely views of the Capitol, and got to stretch their legs a little more. I am very thankful for such awesome kids that have a love of music that extends outside of my classroom! I cannot wait to take a new group of students on a trip next year! #letswatchNashvilleSymphony We are very lucky that we have Nashville so close as music teachers it provides us with such awesome learning opportunities for our students! Thank you to the parents that came to help with chaperone the kids! I couldn't have done it without you! ALSO thank you to the parents who have encouraged their students to join our little music family here at Guild. These actions will have an impact on them in the future and I think we can expect great things from our students! #Guildfam #GESMusic |
