Lets learn about the notes on the staff!!!
Third Graders are learning how to read the the notes on the music staff! We are starting with the line notes and then on to the spaces!!
Let's Start at the Beginning!
Every Good Boy Does Fine
When we are learning the notes on the staff we are starting with the notes E, G, B, D, F.
These are the notes that go on the 5 lines of the staff. No matter where the first note appears in a piece of music, the bottom line of the staff with the treble clef will always be the pitch E.
To help us remember the the order of the pitches, we use the phrase "Every Good Boy Does Fine"! See if you can come up with some of your own phrases to help you remember the order of the pitches |
Practice your skills at naming the line pitches at the bottom of the page!!

F, A, C, E. These are the notes that go in the 4 spaces between the lines of the staff. No matter where the first note appears in a piece of music, the bottom space of the staff with the treble clef will always be the pitch F.
To help us remember the the order of the pitches, we just have to remember that "FACE rhythms with "Space"! See if you can come up with some of your own phrases to help you remember the order of the pitches |
